dear friend,
hope this letter finds you feeling soft and fluffy.
i’m writing to you fresh out of recovery from covid. my body once again reminded me who’s the priority. hope you are also taking care! i’m grateful for this period of rest and regeneration.
made two new august calendar featuring some dream scenes for august. (there is a Perseid meteor shower from aug 11-13!)
we just said goodbye to Capricorn full moon, whipping us in shape with some responsibility and discipline review. i’m feeling a big wave of grief, anyone?
here are some seeds.
❤️ SEEDS:
🌱 I embrace the sensual pleasures of rest as a sacred ritual to recharge my soul.
🌱 As I reflect on my losses, I am reminded of the love that remains. I commit to nurturing this love, letting it expand in every aspect of my life.
🌱 Like the meteors streaking through the night, I allow my fears and doubts to burn away, leaving space for clarity and renewed purpose.
❤️ care packages for when you are sick
compiling a list for next time when i’m sick and sharing with you in case you find helpful <3 i would love to hear how do you take care of yourself when you are not feeling well?
sleep & bath. rest for real. shut down your brain and your body. you need it. don’t wait for your body force you to surrender.
tell your loved one you are sick. stop feeding the “i’m a burden“ demon and allow your loved ones’ care to warm your heart.
somatic and spiritual rituals:
clean your altar. locate and center yourself up, down, left, right, past, present and future.
yoga as a conversation with your body
My favorite yoga teacher on youtube: Yue Yoga (Chinese), Black Yogi Nico (English)
dance on the rooftop during sunset like nobody’s watching to Groovy Groovy’s mix. This one with Somatic Rituals always to gets me going.
creative nourishment:
collage and journal as a way to play with the intention of complete honesty and vulnerability.
indulge in juicy art: i got into a research blackhole of queer diaspora art & asian queer tv shows. frankly the asian queer art and media landscape was quite bleak when i was growing up. there’s still lots of gap to fill. seeing everyone’s creation and evolution refueled hope in me to bloom into my own shape in this collective garden.
Wildness, 2012, Wu Tsang & a thoughtful interview by the director: a documentary portrait of Silver Platter, a historical nightclub that hosted the Latin/LBGT communities of LA since the early 1960s.The bar is the narrator of the film, describing in the first person the advent of a weekly party entitled Wildness (organised by director Wu Tsang and DJs NGUZUNGUZU & Total Freedom), which shatters the identity of the nightclub.
行星酒馆Planet Speakeasy is a bilingual podcast exploring Chinese diapora’s life by my dear friend Tony Lin who’s pioneering a new way of living in Chiang Mai. This tag line hits! “Reimagine life's shames and forms for those living in between worlds“!
japanese gay dating show The Boyfriend! :0 i can’t believe this is happening and it’s reality tv show!!! :0 活久见。
Learning new frameworks & upgrade mindset
learning somatic coaching has continuously to so generative for me.
How to Build a World - Zine by
: “This zine is a collection of poems, journal entries, prompts, and meditations I wrote from October to December of 2023. They are offering a rewrite your bio workshop next Friday aug 2.“I realize what I want may change tomorrow but I give myself permission to practice inside my desires today. I grieve the long periods of depression and self-isolation, fueled by the internal tension of refusing to honor my deep desire and fear of the vulnerability interdependence demands. Now I refuse to move in silence, because publicly moving in power feels better.” -
This shook me. I want to show up more in my zone of desire and practice publicly to undo all the shame and restrictions, to share with authenticity and enthusiasm. This water syllabus by
feels like swimming in an ocean of depths.
that’s all for now.
wishing you well! take good care!
warmly,
meng
